Virtual Art Tour Sale!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the cancellation of our annual open studio event in conjunction with the Garrett County Artist Studio Tour. While we’re disappointed that we can’t open up for this year, we’ve come up with a few ideas not to let a year go by without some form of an event. Let’s start with a Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County art sale.

Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County Art Sale

Every year during the tour, we like to offer some “show specials” in the way of either discounted prints, original art, or cards. It has varied from year to year, but it’s our way of thanking people for coming out. This year we have put together a virtual gallery of select original art featuring images from around the Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County area. All artwork featured in this gallery will be offered at 20% off the listed price. Also, we are offering free shipping within the continental United States.

How to Purchase a Sale Item

If you are interested in purchasing a piece from the Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County gallery, here is how it works.

  1. Please send an email to rhyonke@gmail.com, letting us know which pieces you are interested in purchasing. Please put “Virtual Studio Tour Sale” in your email subject heading and include your shipping address in the email.
  2. We will send you a secure electronic invoice that you can conveniently pay with a credit card. The invoice will reflect the 20% discount from the list price.
  3. Once we receive payment, we ship your art via US Postal Priority Mail.

Please note:

  • Only art within the Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County virtual gallery is eligible for the discount.
  • Artwork is sold on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Work on paper is sold unframed.
  • If you have an address outside the continental United States, we will provide you with a shipping quote before sending your invoice.
  • If you reside in Pennsylvania or Maryland, your purchase will be subject to sales tax.

Virtual Studio Tour 2020

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Garrett County Artist Studio Tour has been canceled. This event is traditionally an opportunity for people to visit different artists around the county, viewing their work and studios. It’s also a chance to see the artists at work. While it’s certainly a disappointment, as many things have been this year, I will do my best to bring you a “virtual studio tour” during July.

Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County Art Sale

To thank people for visiting during the Tour weekend, I’ve always had some show specials at the event. With that in mind, a selection of Garrett County and Deep Creek Lake themed original art will be offered at a 20% discount during July. Work will include scenes from the lake, sailing, farms, and other areas of Garrett County. A link to this virtual gallery will be posted on this blog starting July 1st.

Greeting Card Packages

Many of you like to purchase a supply of art print cards every year. If you’d like to restock your supply, we can do that. We will prepare cards in packs of six. Cards retail for $5 a card, but we will offer our traditional “studio tour special” of $25 for six cards. They will be packaged by subject matter – more information to follow on this as well.

While it certainly won’t replace seeing everyone in person, we hope that you can “visit” over the coming month.

Back to School

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Mercersburg Academy, where I spoke with students in visual arts classes.

The school, located in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania,  provides an excellent environment for students to pursue most art media, with well-equipped studios and a good selection of classes.  Art classes are held in Burgin Center for the Arts at the school.   There is some excellent work on display in the Center as well.

The students were engaged, and I enjoyed interacting with them.  Thanks to hosting teacher Sydney Caretti and her students for welcoming me
